Whether you believe every American has the right to keep and bear guns, you want to restrict guns only to law enforcement, or have any strong feelings about guns, we'd like to know what experiences have shaped your views.

Your story could be published on this site, or it could become part of a feature-length documentary about Americans' varied relationships to guns.

This is not a place to debate gun control vs. gun rights - instead, it's a place to tell your own story - or the story of someone you know well - about an experience that impacted your beliefs.

Below are a few questions that will give you an idea of what we're looking for. They're guidelines, not a checklist, so please answer the questions that make sense to you.

Oh, and one more thing: you might want to read through some of the stories on this site before you submit your story.

  • Tell us about an experience, or a time in your life, that made a big impact on your feelings about guns.
  • What happened?
  • How did you feel?
  • Did it reinforce opinions you already had, or make you question what you believed?
  • Has your attitude about guns changed since then?
    Why?
